Remembering Sister Marylyn O'Connor (1945 – 2022)

Sister Marylyn (Catherine Thomas) O'Connor was born in Springfield, daughter of Thomas and Catherine (Patterson) O'Connor. She was a graduate of Sacred Heart High School in Springfield and Emmanuel College in Boston.  Marylyn O'Connor went home to her good God on November 15, 2022, after 58 years as a Sister of Notre Dame de Namur.

She entered the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in 1964, after graduating high school. After that, she began a career as an educator. She was a beloved elementary school teacher, working for thirteen years at St. Rose School in Newton, Conn. and then 25 years at the Holy Name School in Chicopee, Mass.

Sister Marylyn leaves behind her brother, Thomas O'Connor of Agawam, her sister Catherine Melbourne of Vero Beach, Fla., nieces, Susan and Kathleen Melbourne and her sisters in religion, the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. She was predeceased by her parents, her sister, Patricia M. Sikorski and her niece Laurie Melbourne.

Sister Marylyn's funeral will be held Tuesday, November 22 in the Notre Dame du Lac Chapel, 555 Plantation St., Worcester, with a visitation period at 1 p.m. followed by a sharing of memories at 1:30, and a Mass at 2 p.m.  Burial will be private. 

May she rest in peace.
