Juneteenth

"Lift every voice and sing Till earth and heaven ring, Ring with the harmonies of Liberty;"

From The Negro National Anthem: "Lift Every Voice and Sing"

The Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur believe that "This call of God, heard through the signs of the times, challenges us to continual conversion, personal and communal, because we share responsibility for the divisions within society" (Constitutions #21)

Juneteenth is a celebration of freedom and a reminder that emancipation was delayed for some enslaved Black people. Take the time to learn more about the history of this holiday, its flag and commemorate the dignity, resiliency, and liberation of all Black people. We are committed to equality, equity and freedom for all as we remain steadfast to the Goodness of our God.
